The Hamlet quote that stood out to me was, “when the blood burns, how prodigal the soul lends the tongue vows.” This quote spoken by Polonius in act I scene III means, when one is hot, energized, irritated, or angered ones mouth takes control and words are easily gather and quickly spoken. This quote stands out to me because it highlights a piece of my personality. When I am “fired up” or my “blood burns,” I quickly and unconsciously speak without thinking, in order to acquire my point. Life during Shakespeare was actually similar to our lives now, even doe there are many differences.

Prefered Hamlet film version
My preferred film version is the 19 century Ken Branagh Hamlet film. The actor choice for Hamlet’s role is impressing and expresses emotions clearly along with his lines. The setting in the film is very similar to the original Hamlet play, just in a more modernized version but not to modern like Mike Almereyda’s 21 century Hamlet film. The music played in the 19 century version flows with the scenes, for example there is suspense toned music for the ghost’s appearance, strong loud music to express characters anger, and mellow joyful music at Polonius and Gertrude’s wedding to express their joy. The camera angles through which the actors are viewed also help show class, superiority, and different characters points of view among each other. Wardrobe used by the actors show their emotions and social class, for example Hamlet wears a complete outfit of black to demonstrate his emotion of depression, grief, and anger. Also, the king, queen, and Hamlet’s costumes illustrate high social fancy, clean, luxurious, and high social class. The director, Ken Branagh, created a successful and productive film from the original Hamlet play written centuries ago.
